Today's Alternative Fuel Car Advantages

By Julianne Oberdorf

Alternative fuel cars refer to vehicles that run on any fuel other than gasoline, or any engine that is not exclusively relying on petroleum. Environmental laws and global warming have made alternate power sources a high seniority for government and car manufacturers all over the globe.

"hybrid" vehicles. By using both internal combustion and electric power. But, there are more alternative fuel cars being developed. Right now, the most likable alternative fuel cars are the electric car, the petrol-electric hybrid, and the solar-powered car.

The battery-electric vehicles, or BEVs, are vehicles that are run by the chemical efficiency of batteries. Most are classified as zero emission vehicles, or ZEHs, because no emissions are formed when running. Electrical energy for these cars are obtained from a mixture of battery chemistry's arranged intro battery packs. BEVs use mainly lead-acid batteries, NiMH batteries, and lithium-ion batteries.

A hybrid vehicle, or the petrol-electric hybrid, implements multiple sources to provide power. This commonly refers to gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, which use gasoline and electric batteries for the muscle used to power internal-combustion engines (ICEs) and electric motors. The Toyota Prius one of the world's first commercially mass-produced and marketed hybrid automobiles. It first appeared on the worldwide market in 2000, and now has over a million units sold.

A solar car is an electric vehicle powered by the suns rays obtained from solar panels on the automobile. Although, solar cars are not yet a practical form of transportation. Competitions sponsored|encouraged|assisted|promoted
